Vexel Quovis comes to Australia

What would a vehicle designed for a wheelchair user look like?

If you ask the designers of the Vexel Quovis you start out with the concept "sporty". Then you would make it personal.

Throw out the seats. The driver brings his own.

Do away with the door. Enter through the fully automated rear ramp.

Who needs a gas pedal? Gas is controlled from the steering column.

And a foot brake? That’s controlled by hand also.

Clutch? It’s automatic.

Air conditioning? Of course!

Did I mention that the thing is about small enough to fit in a wallaby’s pouch?

The Vexel Quovis, the first car designed specifically for the wheelchair user, made its US debut this year at the National Automobile Dealers Association Show in Las Vegas. And it is set for introduction in Australia in 2005.

The Vexel boasts a fuel efficiency of 90 miles per gallon or more. It accomplishes this feat as a low speed vehicle with a top speed of 25 mph and is manufactured with either a diesel or gas engine.
