Disability blog carnival

Disability Blog Carnival is a regular roundup and celebration of "bloggers writing great stuff on disability".

The first Disability Blog Carnival #1 was launched in October 2006 by the Disability Studies, Temple University (DSTU) blog. This initiative came about after DSTU's efforts to roundup recent disability related blogging on a monthly basis ("roundups" began in August 2005) as well as similar efforts by other bloggers, such as Gimp Parade's Saturday Slumgullions and Goldfish's Blogging Against Disablism Day.

The carnival's aim is to make information about disability easier to find, to bring disability bloggers together, and to create a collection of stories about disability … Clearly it has been a success. Goldfish is currently hosting Disability Blog Carnival #4 with entries grouped under the following topics:

Scott Rains, a high profile blogger on accessible travel, disability and universal design (if you have never visited the Rolling Rains Report then you should) wrote recently:

"One of the things that I give thanks for today is a vibrant, international Disabled Community and the wonderful celebration of its strength over at Goldfish's hosting of the Disability Blog Carnival".

If you take a look you'll see why and if you are already a blogger then you may want to participate in future carnivals. The next Disability Blog Carnival #5 will be held in two weeks time at Planet of the Blind on Thursday, 14th December. The theme is "Traveling with a disability: the good, the bad and the ugly". Posts can be sent to Stephen Kuusisto contact@stephenkuusisto.com (by Monday, 11 December 2006).
