
Service Delivery and Government Policy (SD/GP)
Vision
To have effective, collaborative links with governments, consumer bodies, industry and professional bodies for the best and most equitable provision of access, assistive technology services and equipment throughout Australia (and New Zealand).
Goals
Achievement of better funding levels, with limited fragmentation and gaps in funding, for all Assistive Technology services and equipment.
- Compile current information regarding state equipment funding options.
- Compile 'Where to find?' information regarding relevant policy and related documents (CSDA Equipment Study 1995, ABS Facts & Figures, ACROD Bulletin information).
Effective standards of qualifications and suitable accreditation of service and education providers.
- Continue exploration of credentialling for ATP professionals and providing information to membership for comment.
- Explore models of accreditation for service providers and education programmes.
Achieve accessible services nationally (with particular focus on rural and remote access to services).
- Develop PR/Marketing information re: Assistive Technology and its application to people with disabilities, & lists of state contacts/services.
- Need to further develop strategies, consider target audience/group.
Enhanced balance between Universal Design and Adaptive Technology.
- Recognise companies developing accessible products ('mainstreaming' Universal Design).
- UD Award at ARATA 20001.
- Recognition certificate, inclusion on ARATA website.
- Further development of strategies required.
